Tinola Mayfield-Guerrero

Using found objects, photography, collage and encaustic; my work explores substance and impermanence.

My work is informed by feminist theory and philosophy and is concerned with questions of gender, questions of the body, questions of existence, notions of beauty and questions of being.

Things that influence me: found objects, weather maps, space, being, philosophy, feminism...

The overarching themes: Life is transitory and our world is a socially constructed space that is fluid and always in an act of transforming. Moments are fleeting. Art becomes an extension of memory, an archive for experience and a way to encourage dialogue.
